Historic Germantown

This book outlines the history of Germantown, Pennsylvania. Now absorbed into the city of Philadelphia, Germantown was founded by Quakers in 1681 with the permission of William Penn. The German Society of America, still active today, started in Germantown. Additionally, Germantown's distinct group of Quaker citizens were part of the melting pot that Philadelphia became due to its policy of religious tolerance.
