Historicising the Nation

This book provides a new perspective on Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o fictions. It looks at the use of history in Ngũgĩ’s fiction. His novels are filled with the spirit of nationalism. Being a postcolonial author, Ngũgĩ aims at decolonizing the minds of the Kenyans by addressing the issues of history and nationalism. This book also records Ngũgĩ’s contribution in creating the ethos of Kenya. The book meticulously underscores the task of post-colonial novelists like Ngũgĩ, who were a part of the Empire that is writing back now – who have to revert to the past to delineate the indigenous cultural practices to make natives feel proud of cultural nationalism.
