“History of the Caliph Vathek” was a Gothic novel. Once upon a time one merchant delivered several numbers of shiny sabers with incomprehensible inscriptions on it. In order not to be blinded by the glitter, Vatek examined inscriptions through colored glass, couldn’t understand its meaning. Vatek imprisoned the merchant in case of his abandonce of translating that signs. Next morning he went to the prison to visit a stranger, but jails were broken and the security servants were dead…
