Customer Reviews
Another suspenseful winner for animal lovers.
Another winner for animal lovers! Amy Shojai's books have wonderful animal characters who are at least as important as the humans. And they are never killed-thankfully. In this book September goes back to Indiana to meet with her former mother-in-law and visit her husband's grave on the anniversary of his death. What she finds is astonishing and horrific. We (and she) learn more about her history. I seem to be reading this series backwards so it was a revelation to me. This isn't really a hinderance because you don't need her whole story to enjoy the books. We meet some great new cats and of course we have chapters from Shadow the dog's viewpoint. Ms Shojai narrated the audiobook herself and so put the proper emotions in the proper places as she intended. Some of the voices seemed a little strange for some of the characters (could you change your voice for that many people) but you never had any doubt as to who was speaking. As usual she gives a "Cliff's Notes' at the end telling the reader what was true in the book. I really enjoy that. Now that I have read 4, 5, and 6 I need to go back to 1-4. If you like action, suspense and animals you will love this series! I received a copy of the audiobook because I specifically requested it from StoryOrigin. This review is my honest opinion. I love this series.
Maximum Thrills!
Another home run for this very interesting and creative writer. The human characters are real and believable, but the animals are the real heroes in the stories. Now on to the next adventure!
