All Christmas celebrations seem like a great idea on paper. In the middle of the summer. When the sweltering heat is bearing down and the blended drinks are flowing and siblings are texting memories of their precious childhood. Those were just a few reasons Emily Clark thought a family reunion this Christmas was a perfect idea.

However, the realities: travel plans, monetary constraints, bone-deep exhaustion, nieces and nephews, her own miserably pubescent kids, her parents determined to spoil their grandchildren for seven holy days and nights … was the chaotic comedy stuff of a Hollywood blockbuster.
