Publisher Description
This is an eccentric and conspicuous novel that sensationalizes a conflict between English colonists and Native Americans. Sedgwick’s firm feminist and patriotic approach is evident throughout the novel. The female characters are strongly built and the highly spirited heroine of the novel, Esther stands apart in her portrayal. Compelling!

Classroom Trouble
I’m a college student with a class requiring that I read this book. I thought I’d be slick and grab this edition since it’s price was more in my budget. This proved to be a mistake. This version of the story starts somewhere towards the middle(?), and, because of this, it’s extremely difficult to follow. I wouldn’t recommend. If you’re going to read this, seek out another edition.
