Publisher Description
ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone, corticotropin) is a peptide hormone which is produced in the anterior lobe of the pituitary and released into the circulation in response to the action of the hypothalamic peptide, corticotropin releasing factor (CRF). The principal action of ACTH is to stimulate steroidogenesis in the adrenal gland to produce glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids, which act as modulators of a variety of biological responses.
