POV ~> Third person.
Tori is a sports agent, introduced a few books back in the series. She works hard year-round to get her clients what they deserve. This Christmas, she's taking a 3-wk vacation in Hawaii to relax and refresh. However, with a big surf competition occurring right outside her hotel, relaxing may be the last thing to happen. Especially having met champion surfer, Alex, and later his manager, Ben.
There's a lot of commitment-phobia and age-obsession going on here... halfway through the book, age still plays a factor in one or more minds. Secondary cast mostly revolves around fellow competitors. Chemistry, other than lust and hormones/testosterone, is lacking. I felt no emotional connection between them. Dialogue away from sex is smart, sassy, and sometimes snarky. Dialogue during sex was a turn-off. The plot moved along well and had an overall good concept. The length of the novella sometimes plays against the story as it does not allow for a deeper plot to evolve. There were no real conflicts to be resolved. Predictability was a non-issue. There was no real conclusion; nothing solid, barely implied and nowhere near satisfying.
I'm finding it harder to recommend this series the further along it gets. I'm not sure if it's that my reading preferences are changing or if the writing style is, but it no longer feels like a good fit for me.
