Who needs mistletoe?
Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that—but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once . . .
Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Shalvis's sixth Heartbreaker Bay book spices up Christmas with a hint of humor, a dash of suspense, and a whole lot of naughty fun under the mistletoe. Molly Malone is a 27-year-old investigator who's tired of being sheltered by her brother and the other alpha males of Hunt Investigations. She's ready to take to the field, but everyone else in the office is determined to keep her behind a desk, particularly her brother's best friend, Lucas Knight. Recovering from a recent gunshot wound, and not yet cleared to return to duty, Lucas is asked to keep Molly out of trouble; he's desperate to do anything that doesn't require convalescing, so he agrees. When he can't dissuade her from investigating sinister shenanigans perpetrated by a bad Santa at a small San Francisco Christmas village, he decides to step in as her partner. The characters come alive in this lighthearted, fun story written for cold winter nights.
Customer Reviews
Another satisfying read!
Whenever I want a satisfying read, one of my go to authors is Jill Shalvis. I think that I have read every book that she’s written and have never been disappointed. I was not disappointed with Molly and Lucas’ story. I think their story is one of my favorites. I like that Lucas saw Molly and her abilities when others like Joe and Archer couldn’t or wouldn’t. Even though his protective instincts came out, he let her handle the situation herself (at least, most of the time). His family came as a surprise, as most of the alpha heros are loners. All I can say is that if you haven’t read any of Jill’s books, then you are missing out on wonderful, witty, and loving characters.
Great!
It’s a great book with many details and very interesting. Draws you in and loved reading it around the holidays! Who is that girl on the cover? She is pretty!!
Definitely Hot Nights
Lucas is pretty much a all work and no play since he lost his fiancé and his brother. When he’s tasked with discouraging Molly from taking a case on her own or keeping her safe by his best friend and partner, and Molly’s brother, he does his best. When he finds that Molly is hell bent on taking the case, and that she’s really on to something, he decides to give her her chance and back her up. What he doesn’t expect is the massive attraction he feels or the deeper feelings she awakens in him.
This is a terrific dual POV romance with plenty of humorous and spicy moments set in the Heartbreaker Bay universe.
