John E. is a handsome young husband and father in a remote village in northern Mexico. Every weekday he travels to Juarez to work in the maquiladora to support his growing family. Beautifully written page turner
This book contains so many sentences that so perfectly captured a feeling or a setting, that I found myself highlighting sections again and again. The story was gripping, and I was brought fully into the world of this small town south of the border. I also loved the portrait of the widowed mother of three small children, working so hard to care for them all amidst her own hardship and heartbreak.
