Sixteen-year-old Emmalyn is having a great summer: she laughs too loudly, she parties with her friends, she breaks the rules whenever she can, and she has the best friends a girl could ask for. That is, until the accident.

After severely injuring the school’s star basketball player, Emmalyn is bullied and tormented out of school. Looking for friendship wherever she can, she clings to two of the first people to walk into her life: Drew, a cynical hard-to-read guy who sees life as one big opportunity to hurt as many people as he can just because he simply can; and Larissa, her sweet, next-door neighbor who has decided to stand by her side through the fallout.

However, Emmalynn’s life is shaken up again when she begins to fall for Larissa, with confusing feelings that drive her straight into a deeper relationship with Drew, who no one else seems to be able to see.
