Invaluable guide from a man that knows endurance sports and how sponsorship works
I met Scott numerous years back when working with the Athletes for a Cure program. Scott has unmatched experience and insight into the guts of endurance sports and fundraising. In How To Get and Keep Sponsorship Scott provides invaluable insight and step by step instruction for athletes seeking sponsorship in the straight forward, energetic and thoughtful manner that only Scott can. If following Scott's advice doesn't help you get your first sponsor, you are not trying hard enough.
Who knew?
There are many elite athletes, but few who have put together the ability to turn their passion into a career, and even fewer who have taken the time to write about how to do it. Loved the book, well written, and with good examples that I can use....Next stop, Kamchatka Expedition!
An athlete in favor of this book
Like many young kids, my childhood dream was to become a professional athlete- not for the title, money or fame, but for the chance to follow my ultimate passion of kayaking. The only thing standing in my way was the financial support to make that happen. I was fortunate enough to have great resources, good friends and a lot of luck on my side, and ultimately I achieved my goal. However, having a "one stop shop" like this book that you can consult and use as a resource to better understand the complex sponsorship landscape is invaluable! I can only imagine the difference it would have made in my career and encourage anyone who's even remotely interested in the world of professional sports to give this a read! You won't regret it!
