No matter how little one has read about roulette, it is evident that the central problem for the player is that of constant winnings, and in this regard we make our own the words of Le Père FOUINARD which appeared in "Nouveau Science et Jeu" no. 8, 3rd quarter 1971 (p. 50 ff.) under the title "Is this a real solution?":

I speak here of the solution of real and continuous winnings over time. It is certainly not a matter of a mathematical annuity that will arrive regularly at the fixed time. The game remains the game and its fluctuations will take you through alternately very happy periods and difficult times. But on the whole you should come out well.

We leave demonstrations and considerations to the chapters that follow, but the spirit that sums up its development and scope is that of the words you have just read.

The big hits are either due to luck or to the talents of exceptional characters such as Bemo WINCKEL, a notorious author of repeated 'banker's jumps', so much so that he is prevented from playing in almost every casino in the world. Luck is nothing more than a conventional formula, a simple way of saying that someone 'got lucky', without any logical reason, any motivation whatsoever to explain it.

As for players like Winckel, they certainly do not go around explaining their secret to everyone, so all that remains for us is to present serious and original 'studies', never published, on which the reader can experiment according to the instructions we give him, and it is not certain that he will not be able to derive personal ideas for even better use than we have done. In the meantime, we suggest that you follow us as a hobby: once you have learned the mechanism of play, so, without emotional tensions, the application for practical testing to the extent indicated by us will be easy, a pleasant home-made pastime. Only after you have acquired an awareness of what the green table can present to you will you be able to tackle the actual game, once you have practised: personal experience is the best judge, always. I forgot: do not write to the editor, because in my constant travels he would not know how to reach me in time. Everything I wanted to say on the subject is contained in the book, and that is no small thing, for those who know how to use it.
