When live gets crazy for Fran Lightfoot, she moves home to the small town of Moose Creek, Wyoming, teenage daughter in tow. It sounds good: Hometown. Family. A fresh future.

Fran and her sister Lucy open a small business, The Saucy Lucy Café, in an old Victorian home they inherited. The soups, stews, breads, and muffins they serve offer townspeople hearty, home-cooked meals.

Fran and Lucy don't have an ounce of law enforcement training to their names. However, when their friend Eleni Andros goes missing, the sisters begin searching for her. Dismayed to find her buried in her backyard garden, they decide to lend the local police a hand.

Once their investigation begins, Lexie and Lucy manage to rattle a few old skeletons and dig up secrets that folks would rather leave hidden. When things start to cook, the sisters and Lurch, their adopted oversize canine investigator, find themselves in a heap of hot water.
