Customer Reviews
One of the best contemporary photojournalist
Fascinating to see what an extremely talented photographer can do with American football. These are not your average football images. They are intimate and emotional, dramatic and thrilling. You can feel his love for the team in each one of them. Terrific editing and layout as well.
Can the RFU please hire him to cover England's 2013 Six Nations?
A Look Behind the Scenes at a top football Program -- and the fans that love it.
Kenneth Jarecke's photo book on the 2010 season of the University of Nebraska football team really gives the reader an up close and personal view of a highly successful Division I program. But it goes even beyond that.
Not only do you see fantastic peak action photographs -- the kind you would see at the top level in magazines like Sports Illustrated -- but you also see his photographs of the sidelines and the moments before and after the game.
These images vary from their unique artistic and graphic merit, to the quieter images -- often of rabid fans -- that are warm and endearing without being condescending or overly sentimental.
Those images are the hallmark of Jarecke's style (and have been for his entire career) and elevate this book beyond merely a collection of artful sports action imagery.
The iBook is wonderfully reproduced and is the perfect electronic companion to the printed book, which will be a worthy addition to the library of any Nebraska football fan, a fan of great sports photography and those that are fascinated by Jarecke's wonderful eye as he looks into the heart of middle America and the sport that often defines it.
