Fast-paced intrigue and creative history at its best!
What a wild ride with marvelous twists and turns! Clues, dropped like delicious bread crumbs, create a compelling read as characters tell their histories and live their intertwined Nowhere lives hoping to resolve the puzzles of their complicated past. This would be an excellent match for anyone who enjoys hints of history combined in a fast-paced fantasy wrapped in a mystery. There’s a surprise with every turn of the page. A creative and very enjoyable book, indeed!
A terrific series.
I think this might be the best of the Nowhere series. I finished it without looking up. It has something for almost every reader to enjoy. Historical connections... with historical figures that seem more alive than they have in any history book. A rip-roaring, fast paced plot...I dare you to stop once this one gets going. Great characters...Emmaline Cagney is a mighty girl. And something I think makes Andra's writing stand out besides all of the above - place making. Andra has a way of describing places with words that go beyond appearance to what makes places speak to us at an essential level. They are just as rich as her human characters and I think they give her stories true depth. Read this one. Read them all.

Welcome to Nowhere. The third book in the Nowhere series "I Am Number 13" leads us into a much more detailed view of the - afterlife seems wrong - post death life of General James Wilkinson and Theodosia Burr as well as bringing us back into the life of our protagonist Emmaline Cagney.
At the heart of this ripsnorting tale involving Contras, Ronald Reagan, law breaking , betrayals, disappointments and venality and heroism, is a simple tale of a late stage adolescent's growth into adulthood with all of the horror, surprise, emotional wreckage, and forgiveness of sins, both our own and others, that comes with that process.
While you do not need to have read the first two books in the series: "To Live Forever: An Afterlife Journey of Meriwether Lewis" and "Hard to Die" to enjoy "I Am Number 13" treat yourself and do so. It will be a great way to start off 2019 (less)
