I Miss My Mother

Lillian Freedman was an unusual person for her time. She had an interesting life. She was certainly not your typical Jewish mother. She was a lost soul with a survivor’s instinct that prompted her to make radical changes in her life, even after she had turned seventy.

“I Miss My Mother” is a memoir focused on and dedicated to Lillian. It was written by her daughter Sunny. It describes Sunny’s childhood in Philadelphia during the depression, World War II, and beyond. The memoir attempts to understand Lillian’s behavior and the impact that it had on the lives of her family for the next three generations.
