Publisher Description
Annemarie Jacir discusses her background and artistic vision as it has culminated, most recently, in her award-winning 2008 feature film Salt of this Sea. Jacir explains how her film, which traces the experiences of Soraya--a Palestinian-American woman (portrayed by poet Suheir Hammad)--as she attempts to reclaim her family home, was made and how it has been received internationally. Furthermore, Jacir details her struggles as a Palestinian filmmaker to film inside of Israel, and the ways that her work explores the Nakba and its trauma for Palestinians in the United States and throughout the world. **********
