NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Grammy Award–nominated, platinum-selling musician Halsey is heralded as one of the most compelling voices of her generation. In I Would Leave Me If I Could, she reveals never-before-seen poetry of longing, love, and the nuances of bipolar disorder.
In this debut collection, Halsey bares her soul. Bringing the same artistry found in her lyrics, Halsey’s poems delve into the highs and lows of doomed relationships, family ties, sexuality, and mental illness. More hand grenades than confessions, these autobiographical poems explore and dismantle conventional notions of what it means to be a feminist in search of power.
Masterful as it is raw, passionate, and profound, I Would Leave Me If I Could signals the arrival of an essential voice.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
It feels like honesty comes naturally to Halsey. The pop star’s platinum hits (“Bad at Love,” “Without Me”) have the kind of confessional lyrics that leave you feeling like you got a captivating glimpse into her real life. With her first book of poetry, Halsey draws the curtain back even further, offering us a fascinating, no-filter look into how her mind works. Brutally honest and free of pretension, her poems deliver a diarylike sense of immediacy. Things get even deeper when she moves from topics like loneliness, desire, and family into darker territory like abusive relationships, drug abuse, and mental illness. We really felt her confusion and anguish. You don’t have to be a fan of Halsey’s music to enjoy the beauty of I Would Leave Me If I Could. This transcendent book proves that she’s much more than a pop star.

What an experience
So I started this book tonight and just couldn’t put it down till I finished it! Ashley, you’re irreplaceable. Imagery in this poetry is incredible. Got lost in this book so much that the world just got kind of quiet. This kind of talent is rare. You can’t teach the talent Ashley has with lyrics and writing —
Amazing Work from One So Young!
Wow really good raw poetry. By “raw” I don’t mean coarsely written. Reminds me of a writer in the 00’s I called “the “LA Correspondent”.
She said, “I do all these things so you don’t have to.” Thank God if you don’t have to. Gonna go giver her a listen!
Beautiful, Raw, and Stunning ✨
