Rafe is experimenting in a technology humans have considered taboo for centuries: Artificial intelligence. With it, he has learned to create entire mindscapes which a human can upload into, completely immersive and completely real.

But some don't want Rafe to succeed. Some want him to weaponize his discovery. Some want to steal it as a terror weapon against the Compact.
