Brilliant and amazing, yet frustrating.

This universe, the plot, style of writing,.. amazing! I haven’t seen or heard some of the philosophy which is base in this series, so, very original! I applaud this author for a wonderful take on the theory of parallel universes. The characters are very likable and relatable. Description of environments and narration of character’s thoughts are so well done, it’s like a movie in my mind.
My one frustration (and it’s a biggie) is due to the main character repeatedly NOT using an ability until she (or someone she cares about) is 1 second from death. Repeatedly! Yes, admittedly, she wouldn’t have learned exactly “this”, or experienced “that”, and the book would’ve ended 10 chapters earlier, but dangit! All the main characters were forced to suffer sooo much more than if she’d squealed, waved a hand and been confident! I hated seeing them go through so much torture.
Alas, in our reality, enduring such is what builds character, strengthens morals, and is the basis of experience in our everyday lives. I’m probably just grumping about it because I read to escape everyday life, lol.
I’m going in for one more book. If I feel the same, halfway through it, you won’t see a review from me. If you see I left a review, I either loved or hated the next in line.
