In this romantic adventure by the New York Times–bestselling author of The Unleashing, a Norse goddess’s handmaiden and a Viking fight to save the world.
“Laurenston is the queen of paranormal romances that mix over-the-top humor, eccentric characters and sexy, crazy plots to produce addictive stories you won’t want to put down.” —RT Book Reviews
No one would ever accuse Jace Berisha of having an easy life—considering her husband . . . you know . . . killed her. But that was then! Now she fights for mighty Viking gods with the spectacular and vicious Crows.
But things are turning very bad, very quickly because a vengeful, ancient goddess has come into the world with just one thing on her mind—ending it. And the only way they can hope to stop her is if the Crows join forces with their one-time enemies, the Protectors, a Viking Clan created to do nothing but kill every Crow they see.
Thankfully, Protector Ski Eriksen is a peace-loving kind of guy. Because the woman he is desperately trying to get close to is the beautiful and not-very-chatty Jace. Battling Nordic clans? Unkillable goddesses? Jace’s mean-spirited dog? None of these things would ever get in the way of a true Viking!
Praise for The Undoing
“Laurenston adeptly blends humor, romance, and action, her sizable cast fully fleshed out and always entertaining.” —Publishers Weekly
“Anything Shelly Laurenston writes is pure, unadulterated fun. The queen of humorous paranormal romances continues to keep her title with her latest series—Call of the Crows. The Undoing is the second installment in this action packed, laugh out loud, sexy as sin series based on Norse mythology.” —Smexy Books
Laurenston's second Call of Crows contemporary paranormal (after The Unleashing) expands on the premise of rival clans who serve the Norse gods in exchange for power and glory. Jace Berisha is one of the Crows, warrior women resurrected by the goddess Skuld, and easily their most standoffish member. She's introverted and antisocial in general and a berserker in battle; she doesn't let anyone get close. That is, until she starts working on a translation project with Ski Eriksen of the Protector clan, who shares her love of books and hatred of small talk. As their friendship grows into romance, they have to focus on the larger picture: a long-forgotten goddess has snuck into the mortal realm and is causing trouble, and it'll take a unified effort from the normally uncooperative clans to handle this problem. Laurenston adeptly blends humor, romance, and action, her sizable cast fully fleshed out and always entertaining. Laugh-out-loud moments (usually involving large Vikings and small animals) balance the more serious emotional beats and the ongoing looming crisis. Jace and Ski's romantic arc is thoroughly satisfying, as is the story as a whole.
Better than the first book
I’m so glad I went ahead and read this book, It’s the second in the series. The first was just ok but this one is what I’m used to with a Shelly Laurenston book. There was emotion and suspense and laughter. Looking forward to the next book.
Wonderful characters and adventure with a so much more. ❤️📚👍
So, so funny
Wow. Funnier than The Unleashing. Loved Jace and Ski’s story. Love all the characters. My absolute favorite is Bear. Hilarious! As are all the Protectors. Really enjoyed this book. There’s a lot going on. Many, many new characters. We learned a lot more about this world, while seeing Jace open up. Ski was also different in this story. I liked him better. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.
