Nothing will stop a McAllister cowboy from protecting the woman he loves.
Hannah Hudson, a twenty-something desert dweller, has a distorted view of home and family due to her odd, impoverished upbringing. When she comes up with a winning lottery ticket, her only friend convinces her to buy a small Colorado ranch. She’s naïve, and the transition to this whole new world is difficult. Reluctantly, she teams up with a rancher, Trace McAllister, who helps her learn the ropes around the ranch and in the bedroom.
But strange, even deadly, events unfold: someone bugs and vandalizes her ranch house, poisons the cows, and burns the bunkhouse to the ground. The villain’s identity is a mystery until he kidnaps Hannah and shoves her down an old mineshaft, leaving her to die. The list of evil deeds grows, but so does Hannah. She strives to create a more loving and purposeful life. The extraordinary relationship with her horse keeps her grounded, and Trace keeps her happy, most of the time.
