Some secrets have a way of coming back and haunting us, no matter how much we try to bury them.
I never wanted to be a cowboy, living in a small town was suffocating.
The military was my out.
I saw every place I ever wanted and everything that nightmares are made of.
Until I almost lost my life and then I ended up back home.
Finding out that I was pregnant the night before I left for college changed everything.
I left that small town and vowed to never return.
When my grandfather died, I had no choice but to go back home.
The plan was just for two weeks.
I thought it would be quick and easy, until he was standing at the back door asking questions.
Secrets never stay secrets for long in this town.
Another hit read from Natasha!
Another hit read from Natasha! With each book in this series, and each book Natasha writes, my obsession with her books increases with every release. Reed has hated living in his hometown, in the shadow of all his different family members, so it’s natural he takes the first chance he can to get out of town, which is through the military. The night before he leaves, he has a night indulging in his feelings towards his best friend Hazel, who also felt the same way, but it doesn’t change his leaving, although it changes her life forever. Six years later, Reed is injured and returns home reluctantly on leave, and Hazel is informed of her grandfather’s death and returns home to handle his affairs. It’s only a matter of time before Reed finds out about how his life changed that night, and how it will change his life moving forward. This was the HEA that this couple needed, six years in the making. There wasn’t anything suspenseful in this installment of the series, but nonetheless the book was well written – I could feel the emotions coming off the pages! I cannot wait to see who comes next in this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Southern Sunshine by Natasha Madison is the eighth book in the Southern series and OH MY GOSH it was incredible. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. I needed to know how it was all going to play out and Ms. Madison did not disappoint! This story put my emotions through the wringer. One minute I couldn’t stop smiling and the next I had tears streaming down my face.
Reed was a phenomenal character that stole my heart from the very beginning. He had so many layers and watching them all unfold was amazing. Hazel, the heroine, was his perfect match. She is strong, smart, and has the biggest heart. Together, sparks flew off the pages any time they were near each other.
This book was everything! I enjoyed every single second I was reading it. Ms. Madison did a fantastic job and I cannot wait to see what’s next!
Second chances and adulting…
This book....It came along at a time in my life where I can relate to Hazel losing someone...thinking she had more time, when in all actuality time is so limited. She comes back to her hometown to face a dire situation...and fate brings her face to face with her past....but is Reed her Present and Future? Reed couldn't wait to escape and be his own person...he found that in the military, and he avoided coming back to his hometown for many years. But secrets come out in the light, and choices need to be made. I loved both Reed and Hazel. They were both flawed, but also together made sense. You are rooting for them the entire book to get their HEA. Touching read about adulting through grief and second chances.
