Publisher Description
Masquerading as a man wasn't a problem. Until she met the man of her dreams.
Countess Zdenka Waldner dreams of a future on her ancestral farm, free of Viennese Society's rules or expectations to marry. But her dream depends on saving the farm from her father's gambling debts and finding her sister, Arabella, a rich husband. Tasked with chaperoning Arabella, Zdenka masquerades as her younger brother.
Falling in love with a handsome and passionate Kavalier was not part of the plan.
Lieutenant Matteo von Ritter, veteran of the Austro-Prussian war, vows to spend his life caring for his injured men. He has no tolerance for ordinary women, but Arabella Waldner appears to be extraordinary. In need of a messenger, Matteo recruits her charming brother, Zdenko, to deliver a series of love letters.
Unbeknownst to Matteo, he is trading letters—and falling in love—with Zdenka.
When her deception unravels, can Zdenka save her dream, her sister's engagement, Matteo's honor, and his love?
Set in 1867 Vienna, Kissing the Kavalier is a sweetly funny and enchanting reimagining of a timeless romance that embraces independence, forgiveness, and hope.

Endearing Romance
Annette Nauraine’s “Kissing The Kavalier” is a wonderful story that I thoroughly enjoyed. This is a new author to me but one I would seek out in the future.
Countess Zdenka Waldner is tasked with chaperoning Arabella, Zdenka masquerades as her younger brother in order to help her older sister find a husband and hopefully get the family out of debt.
Lieutenant Matteo von Ritter, veteran of the Austro-Prussian war, vows to spend his life caring for his injured men. He’s a man of honor suffering from PTSD.
I was immediately drawn into this well written, engaging story with its rich descriptions, interesting plot and wonderful characters. I was captivated by Zdenka’s plight and impressed by her willingness to do whatever it took for her family. It’s a story of love, for family, fellow man and romantic love that comes unexpectedly. It was a wonderful tale of two people who find their way to one another despite their circumstances.
Thank you so much Ms. Nauraine for this endearing story of love.
A fresh regency romance that explores the commitment to family and love
What an amazing book! I loved the concept - not your typical romance. I love a good period piece and really enjoyed how Nauraine developed this storyline and these characters. It definitely explores what one is willing to do for their family as well as the lengths someone will go to for their heart. Loved it.
