Sometimes life is just too damned complicated. I long to stand at the precipice of my existence, watch my whole life replay in front of me in bold, neon, polychromatic flashes from a kaleidoscope that shows my story so I can see how it all finally ends.
My aspirations are high, but almost always met. It's the thing I do.
It's who I am.
Carson Renee Matthews.
I've been through an horrific experience, one that left me clinging to life in the hospital. Everyone has questions. I don't have the answers to give them though. You see, I have no clue as to the details leading up to my accident. But there are people out there that have the answers, and I'm determined to find them - before they find me.
Enter Krew Beckett. My former physical therapist who becomes much more than that after he unexpectedly shows up in my life again once I return to campus at Columbia University. But is Krew hiding secrets, or am I simply afraid to trust anyone?
Come take this journey with me.

Enjoyable
I previously read this in an anthology. Now the author has added a second half to the story. I enjoyed learning more about Carson and I loved reading some parts from Krew’s POV. Also seeing Easton and Darcy in the parental role and how they react to their kids. Ha ha not what I expected!
While I enjoyed Carson’s story Krew really made me wonder. We don’t really know much about him...very vague stuff. I did like the mix in with Taz and how he got his current job.
Overall this is a fuller story now and that made it more enjoyable. It flows nicely and the characters are ones we love to see again and meet a few new ones. I look forward to Harpers story now...color me intrigued.
Great Story & Narration🎧 A Captivating Thrill!
Andrea Smith pens another fantastic story set in her G-Man series, I love this world she created as well as the amazing characters in it. Smith is a gifted author, I enjoy her writing style and her way with words, not many can bring humor into their stories to balance out the seriousness parts of the stories and not just to deflect from them and she does it with witty dialogue and perfect timing. Carson is Easton and Darcy Matthew’s college age daughter, she is studying journalism and is doing some investigative work for her class project. But she never finished that piece because she found herself injured and back home with her parents, she has no memory of what she was working on either. She is recuperating and her father finds her a great physical therapist, Krew Beckett, though Carson is not too happy with how hard he works her but she does get better and heads back to school. Then she runs into Krew again, who just opened his own practice, he invites her over and the two become friends and when she wants to get to the bottom of what happened to her he agrees to help her. I thought these two were great together and for each other, but he has other things going on and that may backfire and hurt him in the end. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Andrea Smith, thank you for another amazing story and emotional roller coaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Alexander Cendese did a great job bringing these characters and their story to life. He had a complete understanding of the characters he portrays, gave each a voice that fits the character’s persona, sounding believable in every role he plays. He sets the perfect tone for the story, handles the witty dialogue with ease and switches character roles effortlessly never missing a beat. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures all the character’s emotions and projects them into his performance and has you feeling every single one. Cendese is an entertaining storyteller and a versatile voice artist, thank you for another great listen.
Carson!
Absolute perfection! Carson is such a strong young woman to survive through what she did and come back fighting. I have loved all the G-Men books and getting to see some of their children grow up is just perfect. This will be a book I see myself coming back to read over and over again.
