Out of the Silent Planet is the first novel in C. S. Lewis's classic science fiction trilogy. It tells the adventure of Dr. Ransom, a Cambridge academic, who is abducted and taken on a spaceship to the red planet of Malacandra, which he knows as Mars. His captors are plotting to plunder the planet's treasures and plan to offer Ransom as a sacrifice to the creatures who live there. Ransom discovers he has come from the "silent planet"—Earth—whose tragic story is known throughout the universe!

Out of the Silent Planet
Very interesting, unusual to be sure. The juxtaposition of the motivations shown by the 3 protagonists, the evolution of understanding the causes for essentially kidnapping an accidental visitor, the revelation of the species found after landing on the planet…
CS Lewis has put together a well developed story exposing much of the irrational or “bent” proclivities of human behavior. The reader is led gently into the scenario and finally realizes just how broken we are and how we could appear to beings who are not steeped in sinful behavior from birth.

C.S. Lewis is masterfully able to give the reader who has seen no worlds besides earth an adequate enough amount of descriptors to even begin to remotely fathom the wonders of the world that dominates the majority of this story. The characters are all done enough justice to neither overshadow the story and plot, or be lost in the shuffle. Few media, written, told or shown have made me feel the range the second to last chapter was able to evoke from me. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fiction or is looking for ways to build upon their thinking with new ideas. Very versatile
Title catches your attention and begins the mystery of silence.
As this book shows, there is more to consider than our 8 to 5 jobs.
