1066 – one of the most famous years in history.

In that year England saw three kings sit on the throne, and the most pivotal battle in its long history.

The interplay between the three kings – Edward, Henry and William – led to a year of upheaval that saw two of them dead and the third triumphantly imposing a Norman way of life upon a defeated English nation. For the next twenty years, the nation would suffer under the great terror, leaving tens of thousands dead and the land ravaged.
