I loved Calder Cruz from the moment he taught me to fly. He might’ve been my brother’s best friend but he was my everything.
The only one who understood me. My safest place. My person.
Until one night changed it all and we became strangers in a single breath.
Now, years later, I see him every day at the fire station. I watch him raise adorable twin girls as a single dad. But he has no idea how hard it was to see him move on without me.
How much I still burn for him.
A twist of fate changes everything. When my life is on the line, it’s Calder who saves me–who comes charging back into my heart with a vengeance. And makes it clear he’s determined to stay.
But as long-buried embers light anew, there are those who lurk in the shadows. And they’ll do whatever it takes to extinguish that flame for good…
Suspense, heart, and romance all rolled in one.
This book was amazing. There are so many emotional feels to this book, emotions of strength, kindness, endurance and all the love you could want to find in a book. This is Catherine Cowles best writing yet. You won't want to miss this suspenseful romance that will make you fall even more in love with her writing.
Falling Embers is a burning five stars read.
Catherine Cowles is always so great at giving readers dynamic and complex characters and storylines; Calder and Hadley’s story wasn’t the exception. They both had very intricate pasts as individuals and in their relationship because of that, this book felt like an amazing full circle love story.
All the fixings that make a Catherine Cowles book so great we’re delivered in this story too and I couldn’t put it down! Without fail I’m already sitting in anticipation waiting for my chance to devour her next release.
Catherine Cowles is on a roll with her first two books of the year. I said Tattered Stars was going to be a hard book to beat, the audio version even harder, I don’t know if I would say that Falling Embers beat it, but it may be a really close tie. The book is stunning in every way. It has that incredible mix of suspense and heart that I have come to expect when reading a book by this author. Hadley and Calder perfection in every way and we continue to build relationships with the rest of the amazing characters in this series. I will say, where I had so much sympathy for Julia in Tattered Stars, and loved how readily she accepted Everly, I had a really hard time liking her in this book.
Hadley is probably one of my most favorite heroine’s, there is nothing bad to say about her. I’m so happy she got her happily ever after with Calder.
Birdie and Sage….. so perfect.
Joe Arden and Vanessa Edwin where spectacular with the characters in the audio book. I didn’t want to stop listening. Seriously, this author produces some of the best audio books out there hands down.
I’m more than ready for Hidden Waters.
