Publisher Description
There's no such thing as perfection but being stuck in the Scottish Highlands with a shot at a dream comes close.
Caelan Stewart—Lord Everly—only son to the Earl of Breckenridge, is in Scotland on a hunting holiday, but when an accidental tumble on a hike gives him a badly sprained ankle and injures his wrist, the remainder of his holiday looks dull… until two red-haired scamps play Halloween tricks on him while he's preoccupied by their attractive mother.
Widowed two years and still battling grief, American Clara Snyder needs a distraction. Spending several weeks on an estate in the Highlands that will end with a lavish ball on All Hallows Eve might be just the thing. She barely settles into life there with her two small children when an intriguing Scotsman literally falls at her feet… and feelings she thought long dead come alive again.
As Caelan fills his time by bedeviling the intriguing widow and planning a few Samhain tricks, she falls under his spell. Desire grows, as does the bond between him and her children. But he's not keen on offering up his heart again after the violent death of his first betrothed while Clara is leery of loving someone else for fear they'll leave. The only way to a happily ever after is to jump in with eyes wide open… and a bit of innocent, ghostly manipulation won't hurt either.

Romance in the Highlands
Caelan and Clara have both come to the Highlands for a respite and to celebrate Samhain at Castle Buchannan. Both have suffered the loss of someone they loved, but they deal with the grief in different ways. When they meet, they fall at each other’s feet, really. He trips as her son runs into him, and she falls in his lap. There is an instant attraction, but while Caelan would like to pursue, Clara is trapped in her grief for her husband. They find it easy to talk to each other. Maybe that will help bring down their barriers.
I liked this story and the interaction between Caelan and Clara. She holds on tightly to her grief and fear of losing someone else, but Caelan keeps trying to win her heart. There is a cast of entertaining characters, mostly Caelan’s cousins, in this one. Clara’s six-year-old twins were impish, but adorable. They experienced several adventures during the holiday celebrations. Finding love a second time is not easy, but with the magic of the Highlands, these two have a chance. An enjoyable story and characters. Good Read.

sweet and emotional
This is such a sweet and emotional story. Two people who each lost the love of their life find the strength to move on together. Caelan, Clara and her two children, Jacob and Susan, meet at a hunting lodge in the Highlands. He is visiting his mother’s family and she came with her friend Mary, who is related to the same people. The attraction between them is immediate and disconcerting for the two people who have been mired in grief. Jacob and Susan are high spirited and mischievous twins who end up playing a huge part in the matchmaking. This story will have you sighing one minute and shaking your head the next. But by the end, you will have a smile on your face and your heart will be full.

Steamy Second Chance at Love Historical Romance
Caelan and Clara have both been hurt by the loss of someone they loved and are afraid to risk their hearts again. But they can’t help their attraction when they literally fell at each others feet. But she’s stubborn, afraid to risk her heart to romantic love again, not wanting charity, but yet willing to be a charity case with her deceased husband’s aunt who doesn’t like Americans, would mostly likely treat her children horribly, and won’t let Clara live with them. She is determined on a course that did not seem best for them. I wanted to shake her pushing Caelan away and hurting him repeatedly. I wondered how long he would keep up trying to win her over. Both her children Jacob and Susan was mischievous and I thought they resented Caelan for wanting their mother. Their pranks were funny but also destructive. I loved Caelan’s stories and don’t blame them for hoping it would help them obtain their hearts desires.
