"Cancer Patient" is the true story of the author's encounter with cancer, from initial investigations through to diagnosis, followed by chemotherapy then radiation therapy. In this medical memoir, Hugh Cook tells of his experience with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the central nervous system - that is to say, cancer of the brain and spinal cord. In addition to the medical details, the book includes some experiences which provided a context for this experience, including the birth of the author's daughter. The book also includes some poems and a couple of short stories, clearly marked as such, one being very short, the other a little longer.
