Close Encounters with Addiction

I recently found Gabor Maté on YouTube and bought all of his books. I read this one in one sitting. As someone who’s struggled with trauma, addiction, an eating disorder and other severe mental health issues, I’ve always wanted a more holistic way to gain insight into myself so that I could heal instead of just covering up my issues by taking medications. For years I did that yet was somehow still miserable. His knowledge has been so liberating and validating for me, what a blessing to humanity this man is.

Dr.maté does an amazing job communicating what it's like to be an addict and where it stems from. It surprised me a great deal, and I think it will do the same for you too. I don't have an addiction problem but have had family members going through addiction. Love and understanding are so important. Read this if you'd like to gain more perspective.
