Tugged at my heartstrings
A Deamon and a Vampyre, who would’ve thunk it? Rebecca Hefner would’ve that’s who. These two just tugged my heartstrings. Through the first 4 books I never thought much about the Deamons that were created and under Crimeous rule not having their freedom, forced in a war they didn’t want, this book really shed light on that scenario, the lack of love and loneliness that came with it. Dragos is the sweetest guy, he’s just so kind, tender heart, innocent, vulnerable and I just want to squeeze him and hold him…yes, he had that effect on me, because don’t we all want to protect the innocent. Raina has quite the crush on her Deamon neighbor, and he reciprocates a huge crush on her as well, but she’s the one that finally gets impatient with waiting. He’s so innocent he has never had anyone touch him that wasn’t related to war. He is just so in awe of her, it made my heart ache with awe for him. I got a little weepy with these two, on many levels really. Two lonely and beautiful souls that needed each other. She lost her bonded in the final war with Crimeous, he was a soldier and didn’t make it back. Dragos was a Deamon soldier created and never had any love. Seriously I became weepy, these two pulled at all my heartstrings. I felt like Raina was really onto something getting a trainable virgin…smart woman indeed. When lust and love come together, it’s quite powerful. I am so grateful these two found each other, her to get a second chance at love, and him to just have a chance at love at all, it was just everything. He is just so good with her, and her sons. He is really just a great family man, and I think that’s what I love the most, he has such a loving and tender heart *sigh*. A beautiful epilogue and hea.
