Luther's Sermons and Letters

Volume VII Luther's Sermons & Letters introduces the reader to all of Luther's major sermons and letters through a new English translation followed by the original German.

This is the last volume of The Essential Luther: The Complete Works of Martin Luther in 7 Bilingual Volumes covering all major works of Luther. It contains the remaining works of Luther which gives context to all of his major treaties and confessions and fascinating context to the events of his life. To conclude this systematic "Hauptwerke" of Luther, it is fitting to include the biography written by the man who knew Luther's life and works the best, Philip Melanchthons' "Die Historie vom Leben und Geschichten des ehrwürdigen Herrn Dr. Martin Luthers" published in 1546. It's a nostalgic and elegiac look backwards at Luther's eventful and tragic life.

The modern English translations are followed by the original Germans texts for reference. This chronological collection of Luther's manuscripts is the first Bilingual "Hauptwerke" (major works) of Luther ever printed.
