Before long, she’s connecting the dots between a series of unsolved disappearances and finding the time to strike up a connection with a cute guy named Nash who runs a local home-renovation business—and who doesn’t mind her passion for investigation one bit. Sloan is a fantastic heroine with a winsome sense of dogged determination. We felt totally wrapped up in the cozy, familiar atmosphere of her hometown. But as Sloan gets closer to the bizarre and gruesome truth about the cases she’s following, the story quickly goes from intriguing to exciting to downright gripping.

Hidden Nature
I loved the book, as I’ve read several of hers. I was bothered by the crazy couple’s overuse of the term “doll.” There were a few things that didn’t make sense, and the editing should have been looked at closer, as some typos, phrases instead of a sentence, and a few words that didn’t fit or make sense. It seems the end could have been better. If I came into my house when I knew there were killers out there, I’d immediately leave and call for help, so unrealistic. I wondered if she’s married to a Contractor, because she has several books that talk about fix ups.
Are we sure this is Nora Roberts?
Not even close to the level of Mind Games, Hideaway, Under Currents, etc. Poor character development and story just doesn’t click. Disappointing. I generally pre-order but will likely wait moving forward
