Way too long. Way too much about the protagonist’s father being afraid for her. Too drawn out.
Interesting story, decently proofread.
Just an odd cavil - I found it annoying that Dr Payne always said “Yeah.”
She’s a professional, not a low-class person with little education. She could have responded with a considered “Yes” sometimes. She sounds like a gum-chewing teen.
