most widely worshipped deities in the African diaspora, honored from the Yoruba
homeland of Nigeria to the Candomblé temples of Brazil, the Lucumí houses of Cuba, and
the Vodou traditions of Haiti. She is the sweetness at the center of life, and her teachings
