Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon in the Deseret Alphabet. The Deseret Alphabet was developed in the mid-19th century by the Board of Regents of the University of Deseret (later the University of Utah) under the direction of Mormon leader Brigham Young. Young felt that a new alphabet was needed to replace the oft-times confusing Latin alphabet, and that his new alphabet would make learning the Mormon teachings easier for those who spoke other languages. The Deseret alphabet was never widely adopted.
