Classic Content--Unforgiveable Digital Implementation
Norman Geisler’s Big Book of Apologetics is a classic and comprehensive resource for the serious lay learner and for the student. It is concise in its presentation, respectful in its criticisms and lucid in its explanations. I have the hardback and purchased the digital version because I like to take extensive notes. Unfortunately, this version is little more than a text dump into a PDF. The “Table of Contents” is not topical, merely divided by letter of the alphabet with links to the first article in each section, there is utterly no hyperlinking within the text, and the Index is not hyperlinked. The only way to find a topic is to search and then wade through the reams of results to find the one that corresponds to a major topic entry. For example, if the reader wants to drill down on a reference cited in an article, he or she will have to exit the article and search for it, and then search again for the original article. There are no hyperlinks between articles and no “history back” or “forward” buttons to aid navigation. Unless you are desperate for a digital version, you will be sorely disappointed and thoroughly frustrated.. The digital editor who designed this book should be fired.
