After her stunning debut at the Bridgerton masked ball and a heady encounter with handsome Benedict Bridgerton, Sophie Beckett, the bastard daughter of an earl, is summarily ousted from her home when her stepmother discovers that Sophie had attended the masquerade. Three years later, Sophie, now a housemaid, is rescued from her new employer's sex-crazed son by none other than her long-lost "prince." Although Benedict is attracted to Sophie and agrees to find her a position as a servant in his mother's house, he fails to recognize her from their encounter at the ball. A charming romance develops as Benedict tries to convince Sophie to become his mistress and Sophie refuses to succumb to his dangerously seductive offer. Wasn’t the best out of the Bridgeston series
This was the best book out of the Bridgerton series. If I’m being perfectly honest, I prefer all the other books prior to this one but then again, I haven’t read the sequels either call this love story just seemed kind of plain and basic to me almost but it definitely is still worth the read if you’re into Reading the book before you watch the series currently right now I know that Benedix story is currently on Netflix, but I highly recommend that you read the book 1st because it’ll help you appreciate the story in the TV show more
another home run from Quinn
This classic Cinderella story is adorned with sweet & spicy details which make for a DELIGHTFUL read. I’m so glad I finished it before watching the season!!!
While the plot is comfortably predictable, I thoroughly enjoyed it and have already reached for the next in the series.
Sophie is traditionally feminine and highly (stubbornly) principled in a way that would honestly usually annoy me. But (as with other Julia Quinn leads) I found myself endlessly rooting for her. Benedict is adorable and made for an excellent Prince Charming. Violet is EVERYTHING !!!!
