Publisher Description
Voyage to Egdon Heath, a place that Hardy describes in vivid detail. You will encounter Eustacia Vye, she longs to be a big-city girl and is unhappy about being stuck in boring Egdon. She has a brief romance with Damon Wildeve, but Damon is wild and ends up dating another lady, Thomasin Yeobright, without her knowledge. Thomasin and Damon make an attempt to elope, but it fails. The ensuing scandal makes Damon unsure of which woman he wants to be with. Thomasin has elicited the affections Diggory Venn, but she refuses his advances. Diggory tries to get in between Eustacia and Damon's relationship, but that is to no avail and the relationship works out.
At the same time Thomasin's cousin, Clym Yeobright, returns home from Paris, which actually inspired the title of this book. Eustacia happens to fall in love with him because of her love for Paris. Clym also is enchanted by Eustacia. But Clym's mother does not approve of the situation by any means. She and her son fight and then part ways on bad terms. This is a wonderful story of love and love lost. A great book for anyone with a romantic heart and a great period piece.
