A true masterpiece of travel literature, Travels in Arabia Deserta offers a rare and intimate glimpse into a world that has long since vanished.

Charles Montagu Doughty (1843-1926) was an English poet, writer, and explorer who is best known for his extensive travels in Arabia. Born in Suffolk, England, Doughty studied at Cambridge University before embarking on a two-year journey through the Middle East, during which he became one of the first Europeans to visit the ancient city of Petra in present-day Jordan. His experiences in Arabia formed the basis for his magnum opus, Travels in Arabia Deserta, which was first published in 1888 and has since been hailed as a masterpiece of travel literature.
