Her parents scramble to present her to the Duke of Wellesbourne; except he’s precisely the kind of rogue she has now vowed to avoid. If she remains in his company, she’ll end up in the wicked scoundrel’s clutches.
Even worse, her second attempt at escape lands her in increasingly poor circumstances. With nowhere to turn and her safety at risk, she may have to accept help from the one man who threatens her resolve—and her reputation.

If the duke dares
Fun story. Another reason Darcy Burke is a favored author.
Great Love Story
I enjoyed this book. I have to live on a limited budget and at 85 1/2 I use KU on one iPad and free Apple on the others. My AncestryDNA tells me I have blood line all the way to William the Conqueror so it I had known this a few years ago i could have wrote a book 😊
He’s clueless
He’s terrible at reading women…
I liked Persephone, a young widow. She’s trying to avoid being married off to a duke because her sister was compromised by a rogue. Acton Loxley is a friend and fellow rogue of the guy who ruined her sister. He’s a clueless duke who thought (wrongly) that Persephone would welcome his unwanted advances when she was traveling alone. He visits the same brothel as all his friends (way to share the STI and STDs). Acton just feels very predatory. But you know Persephone just has to end up with him. She could definitely do better.
