His world was cold and dark...until she ignited a spark.
When Nick Holmes left to serve in the military, he had a plan for his life. A future with a wife and kids and all the things his parents had together. But that was before he saw the horrors of combat.
Now back in his small town working alongside his brother as a firefighter, Nick is slowly learning to live again with one very big complication. It comes in the form of a small, feisty, attractive woman who just happens to be the best friend of his brother's girlfriend. And as fate would have it, she's also his new neighbor.
Becca Carmichael drives him crazy with her absolute perfection. She's all he ever wanted before he left to serve in the military. And now, she's everything he can't allow himself to have.
He's tried to keep his distance, because he knows he's not what she needs. But a spark ignited between them the moment they met and it turned into a burning desire that gets harder to douse each day.

#ignited is book two in #fanningtheflamesseries by @sierrahillbooks and @seroseauthor
Nick is home after serving 10 years in the military. He’s been through traumas and seen things he can’t get out of his mind. Being back home, he’s working as a firefighter. It’s what he’s meant to do; helping people. He has a huge heart even though he feels broken, not like he deserves love and happiness. Moving into an apartment alone it’s a surprise to who his neighbor is. The girl that sees through his tough exterior. Is he willing to give the spark between them a chance or is he going to extinguish any chance of happiness?
Becca is a pediatric nurse and has seen her fair share of heartbreak. But in her profession, she is taught to trust her instincts. Hers is telling her that Nick needs a friend. But the more he comes to her rescue the more she wants to be with him. Can she break down his walls or is her heart going to crumble again?
Wow this book got me good. I don’t usually write anything too personal but It was scarily relatable to my life. I am a nurse and my husband is in the military who had a very similar experience to Nicks. I can relate to Becca when she tries to break down Nick’s walls. This book wasn’t rushed, told a story and didn’t leave you hanging with the past trauma. I’m glad to see previous characters and can’t wait to see what’s next. I love this series and 100% recommend it
Nick and Becca’s love was meant to be!!
Nick is a courageous veteran who is trying to find his place in life now that he has returned home. He was thrilled to be working alongside his brother Tyler as a firefighter. Nick has demons that won’t leave him alone, but could the love of a good woman chase them away forever? He doesn’t feel worthy of Becca’s love because he refuses to drag her down with his problems. Becca is sunshine and laughter while he is sadness and despair. When Nick is with Becca she makes him want to experience all that life has to offer.
Becca can tell that Nick is hiding a part of his life from her but she understands why he would choose to do that. While he is gradually opening up to her, Becca senses that his memories of the war are still fresh in his mind. Nick was proud to have served his country and in his heart he was ready to leave it behind but his mind was still troubled by all that he had encountered. I could tell how painful it was for him to socialize and flirt with Becca while remembering that some of his friends did not come home. I felt bad for Nick because he thought he wasn’t good enough for Becca. He has a big heart and that is what Becca loved most about him. Can Nick break free from his demons and accept Becca’s love or will he push her away, destined to be alone?
