A Boys of Fall novel
Carter Shaw isn’t a man anyone would mistake for a good guy. He’s always been intense, up for anything and fearless —on the football field, when wearing his badge and in the bedroom.
But pleasure is never mixed up with love. His unstable upbringing was more than enough to scare him off commitments for good.
Until he meets Lacey Andrews.
A true do-gooder, heart and soul, Lacey is the only woman to ever make Carter wish he was a better man.
It’s probably a good thing his best friend fell in love with her first.
Even when Garrett is shot and dies in the line of duty, Carter knows he can’t give her everything she wants and needs. Until she shows up on his doorstep in nothing but a trench coat and pink lingerie. Now there may be a few things he can offer...
Losing her fiancé has only proven how short life is and Lacey doesn’t want to miss another moment of happiness. Carter might have turned down the chance at the long term threesome she and Garrett wanted, but she knows he hasn’t forgotten the deep friendship or the one hot night the three of them shared. Carter is the only one who can make her feel alive again. And while her heart will always hold Garrett’s memory, Lacey is ready to prove Carter will never have to share her…even with the ghost of another.

Let me tell you something. This book is HAWT!!!!! Erin knocks it out of the park once again in her second book in the Boys of Fall series.
This story follows Carter & Lacey (and the "ghost" of Garrett). The three best friends were close. In more ways than one. Even though Garrett and Lacey were a couple, Carter was part of their group, growing so close that they had a threesome. Carter finds out that Garrett was in love with him. But Carter is in love with Lacey.
The story follows along after Garrett is killed in the line of duty. Carter moves back to Quinn and Lacey follows him months later because she wants the love, friendship and closeness that she had with Carter when Garrett was alive.
Carter struggles with being the third wheel to his best friends ghost. But is Lacey just trying to relive what she had with the men or is she looking for a complete relationship with Carter?
Pick up this book and the other two new books in the Boys of Fall series: Red Zone by Mari Carr and Going Deep by Cari Quinn (October 2015).
A new version of Nicholas but sooo good!
Illegal Motion, the newest Erin Nicholas installment in the Boys of Fall series, explores the relationship between Carter and Lacey. They have always shared a connection but Lacey was his best friend’s girl, so she was hands-off until one unforgettable night the couple invited Carter into the bedroom with them. Now Carter and Lacey struggle to deal with the death of their best friend and fiancé, respectively, and the feelings that that one night awakened in both of them. This just might be Nicholas at her steamiest but also at her most emotional too. Well-developed characters and what seems an impossible situation fuel this amazing journey of grief, forgiveness, friendship, and love.
Fans of Erin Nicholas' steamy and sweet series should take note that this book is less sweet and lots steamier than her previous books. And that’s a very good thing.
I really like Lacey and admire her for going after what she wants, which is a life with Carter, her late fiancé’s best friend. Now Carter. *sigh* He's a likeable guy. Sexy for sure. But Carter has a lot to learn and even more to accept. Luckily Lacey is far more patient than I. Many times I was ready to smack him with his own book to knock some sense into him. It takes a while, but he finally stops fighting himself and truly gets it.
Illegal Motion is a standalone, but I think the reader will get more out of it if book one, Out of Bounds, is read first. Getting to know all of the characters just adds more feels to each story. I can’t wait for book three to revisit them in their fictional town of Quinn. If the author kicks up the heat level again, things are going to get even more interesting. I say bring it.
