Mothman is my new crush!
Heather decided to go through with a social media detox and on a whim buys a cute little cottage cabin in the woods in a small town.
There she meets Mothman, after she falls out of a tree and honestly the rest is history.
This book was absolutely the cutest and coziest book I’ve ever read! I can relate to Heather in some ways (as I think we all can) because I too get overwhelmed with having to keep up with social media and the expectation of updating everyone on how your life is.
Mothman was so cute and sooooo broody. He was funny too! I loved how Moth and Heather’s relationship grew and how they grew together.
Don’t even get me started on Chris. Chris is just EW.
I cannot wait to read the second book and find out how meeting Moth’s parents go! Why was he exiled from his realm??? I have questions!!

An oddly charming book, but also sometimes infuriating
I only gave it the book a 3/5 because up until the last 36% of the book, I was in love. It had me giggling and twirling my hair and kicking my feet (and let me tell you, SO happy to be named Heather), but that shifted a bit as it got later in the book.
I could definitely be too critical, and Id still recommend this book to any fellow mothman/cryptid lover, but without giving too many spoilers, Heather’s lack of ability to just call the police on Chris for trespassing or allowing him to keep coming back again and again, all the while getting upset at Moth when he did nothing wrong was super infuriating and had me sending angry texts to my poor best friend who had to listen to me rant for 2 days while I binged this book.
Would I recommend this book? Yes. Mothman was adorable, lovable, brooding yet hilarious and the best character in the book. Was I angry at how much Chris just kept showing up and the Heather didnt force him away until it was too late? AbsoLUTELY yes. I loved Heather, but sometimes, I wanted to smack all the sense of the world into her.
Either way, Im still glad I bought the book and now my mothman obsession is 1000x worse. Thank you.
Cottage core charm and cryptids!
I loved every second of this book. A complete change of pace and scenery forces Heather to learn about living a different lifestyle, with all the misunderstandings and learning curve mistakes. With that comes exploring a whole new world of Cryptids after having an encounter with Mothman.
She may have gotten more than she bargained for when looking for a change of pace, but she also found more than she ever dreamed.
