Publisher Description

DEATH IS NOT ALWAYS THE END

It's the '50s and Richard Saussure could have sworn he'd heard it all between his career as a police officer and his current PI business...

Then a man walks in saying he is 213 years old.

Lord Hurlingthon wants to die, but he cannot no matter what he tries. The worst part, he doesn’t understand why. As a last effort, he reaches out to the only person who can’t say no to his cry for help. Detective Richard Saussure has never walked away from an unsolved case. If anyone can help, Richard Saussure has the reputation and the results Lord Hurlingthon needs.
But how do you solve a mystery that defies all laws of nature?

Maybe with the help of your enemy. It is not something Richard is eager to employ, but Doctor Annette Kensington has the skills and the passion for justice he needs. If only she did not completely loathe him...
Can Detective Saussure convince her to put aside their differences for the sake of justice, or will this be the case he fails to solve? If Lord Hurlingthon is going to have a chance to die, they better work fast.

Very interesting...

The book is quite short, and a very quick read. I finished it the same day I started it. Perfect for if you find yourself sitting and waiting on something, or you need something to do for a quiet night in.
As for the story itself, the characters are fine. Richard Saussure is interesting in his own right, and you learn snippets of his tortured past throughout the story, and I'm curious to read more stories with him involved- his mental commentary is very funny at times and very informative.
Lord Hugh Hurlingthon is, for the most part, merely a vessel for the progression of the story. He isn't memorable to me. Anybody with his affliction could be put in the story to the same end.
Marlon's character has more meat...something about the man is strange and it leads you to care more about his and Richard's dynamic more than any other.
The story is good, not as well written as others I have seen, but maybe that is because I don't usually read stories of this nature. The ending was sudden and rapid, but there was really no way for the story to continue- Detective Saussure had solved the mystery.
All in all, well worth the time to read. And since it was free, well worth the price. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fast and intriguing read.
