In the Closet

If ever there were a time when the rift between the church and the LGBTQIA+ community was the most noticeable, it would be now. The failure of Christians to properly balance both love and truth has ostracized many people from their faith, whether or not this is the desired intention. From the church doors to her closet floor, Alexis hid in secret for several years after her high school best friend professed a romantic love for her. The lack of space available for same-sex conversations within the church led her on a quest to solve her newfound identity crisis alone. Alexis has experienced firsthand the deep wounds of church hurt, yet she has lived through an even greater story of healing. 


In the Closet meets the reader in their present darkness by giving hope to those who feel isolated, ashamed, and misunderstood. Alexis offers a biblical approach to refute the stigma that people are defined by who they are attracted to. God is the original creator of our identity, and it is imperative to know Him in order to know ourselves. Jesus is the bridge from whatever closet we are hiding in back to God. If you let Jesus in, He will show you the way out.
