Annmric8 ,

Rockstar in the making.

I wish there was more background information on Lily and Grayson from when they were childhood friends and neighbors. It's hard to connect from this point in high school speculating on only the words given on the type of relationship these two had. These were my original thoughts from the beginning but then upon further reading I realize this was not the significance of the story.
So weird to read a story about an eighteen year old working at a bar. It had not occurred to me that other states allowed drinking at the age of eighteen. In California the drinking age is twenty-one. Grayson seems too young to be a bartender. Again this was not significant in the aspect that I took it. What was most important was the relationship established with Ana who worked at the bar hers parents owned.
It's sweet the adoration Grayson shows for Lily. I'm puzzled by his constant negativity towards not being good enough for her. Besides his mothers issues I'm not understanding what his mothers problems have to do with him. When his mothers issues surface and all is unfolded I gained a better understanding for how Grayson felt cheated during his childhood. I commend Lindy for making Grayson brave to confront his parents. That alone was groundbreaking and set many key steps into action. A milestone was achieved.
Lily is a straight forward character. I like her. Lily is a go get them type of girl. When she sees something she wants to takes it. Lily was a strong hearted character that was very selfless. Lily was brave to allow Grayson the freedom to go after his dreams.
I think it's wonderful how protective and caring Grayson is with his brother Aidan. Although it's confusing why he feels the need to include him when he should be out with kids his own age. Not to mention there father is still present in their life so why are the guys not bonding? Upon further reading I discovered the significance of this situation. All is revealed later and answered. The story filled in the missing pieces of the puzzle very nicely.
Grayson is realizing his actions and choices have a direct impact on the lives of others. Grayson's decisions or lack of decisions sets the motion for other major occurrences. Grayson's decisions put forth major changes for all the people he loved.
Sometimes life's choices bring forth the perspective you need to make other hard choices. When Grayson sets forth to achieve his dream of course he can reflect back on the decision to let go of the small town he grew up in because without having tried he would not have had that perspective to reflect back on.
The vibe I am getting from Lily is that sometimes what we think we want as a young adult is not necessarily what we need in our future. Grayson's determination to hold himself back is going to backfire and also stunt the growth of their relationship.
Without realizing it we have the beginning stages of stardom in the making.
The story had a lot of ups and downs. I'm not a patient person and this one was a challenge to my impatience. I may not agree with the choices that Lily made for Grayson but it's not my story to tell. I had no idea going into this story that it would end up becoming a rockstar in the making. It's easier to reflect back and have the clarity for the turnout.
