Book one of two in the Indefinite Duet

The day he said he’d never love me is when I vowed Quinn Miller would never break my heart again.

I wanted a family—but he wouldn’t give me that. As one of the top embryologists in the country, I’ve spent years creating babies in the lab for other people as my own dreams of motherhood fade.

I’m done waiting. I decide to start the journey to parenthood alone.

Then Quinn strolls back into my life, with all the finesse of a hurricane. I’m a fool to think I don’t want him anymore, and one reckless night of passion ends with me pregnant by the man I swore I’d never love again.

Now he doesn’t just want my heart, he wants it all. The baby. Love. A life where we’re happy.

But even as he promises me the future I always desired, I can’t help but fear that something will rip him away from me again.

This time . . . indefinitely.

Ahhh this story gave me all the feels. I loved Ashton in all the previous books but Quinn stole my heart in this one. Definitely I must read and be ready for a whirlwind of emotions.

Slow, feels like it should have finished by page 450

Long, drawn out and ends with no resolution except to get you to read the next book. Boring.

Two Stars... Harsh?

I’m going to preface this by saying I REALLY wanted to like this book. I did.

Spoiler alert, this book doesn’t really build up to their relationship. I was thinking the author would at least do some character and relationship development.

Quinn is a bad@ss. He is also a SEAL. He is a bad@ss SEAL. He is a SEAL that is a bad@ss. Did I mention that he is a SEAL and thinks he is a bad@ss?? It’s beaten into the reader. WE GET IT.

Ashton also seemed to be a weaker character than she was originally portrayed. She is neurotic and obsessed with having a baby with Quinn, a bad@ss SEAL. Their relationship is tumultuous and cyclical. Ultimatums & begging him for a future isn’t how a marriage should begin, even if he is a bad@ss SEAL. It might have made things more interesting if she had dated someone during Quinn’s deployment instead of pining for him.

Additionally, who is Quinn? Well, he’s a SEAL. He used to be a confirmed bachelor. He was out for a good time and focused on new conquests. Now he’s a hot mess of a man who gets inside his own head. He lost appeal within the first 100 pages. Mr. Bad@ss with the body quickly turned into a man who stalks and smothers the one he wants. Pretty sure that’s how to ensure a restraining order is easily obtained.

Ultimately, I’ve read all other books in this series and we all know this will end with a HEA. I doubt I’ll pay for the final book and call it good. I enjoyed a lot in this series, some of it made me cringe, some made me laugh, but I still thought they were ok enough to continue.

I don’t see how people are leaving 5 star reviews. I’d give this 3 at best. I don’t expect a literary classic for $5. These are easy reads about women falling for frogmen and the men falling hard for the women. Did I mention that they are all bad@ss SEALs??
